MacMedics History
MacMedics was forged out of frustration in 1989 when Mac enthusiast Dana Stibolt had a simple problem with his now-classic Mac Plus. After repeated attempts to get basic questions answered, and several out-of-this-world repair estimates from local Apple Service Providers, Dana realized there was a severe void for customer focused and affordable Macintosh service and support in the Baltimore and Annapolis area. As a result, MacMedics was started in the Annapolis, Maryland area to provide a new type of fast and friendly Apple computer service in November 1989. As MacMedics grew, the company expanded to also offer service first in Washington, DC, then also in Philadelphia, PA. MacMedics now offers Apple Authorized Service, Consulting, and Sales throughout the Mid-Atlantic region as we provide our services in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey.
Before any other computer service firm had even dreamed of performing on-site Macintosh repairs, Dana was on the road with his car full of Mac service parts and equipment. In the early days of Apple computers, Macintosh service was strictly an in-lab procedure. As a guy who could actually "fix" Macs at the component level, Dana could often be found, soldering iron in hand, repairing a motherboard or power supply at a customer's home or office. He quickly earned a reputation of providing honest, fast, friendly, and affordable Macintosh service and support. As word spread, Dana soon had so many service requests, employees were needed to meet demand and were dispatched into the field to take care of the growing number of MacMedics clients. Soon after that, MacMedics required commercial office space and our first walk-in service center in Millersville, Maryland was born. The momentum carried, and MacMedics quickly grew from a one-man "Mac Tech" to one of the largest Apple Authorized Value Added Resellers, Apple Authorized Macintosh Service Providers, and Macintosh consulting firms in the Mid-Atlantic region.
