    Apple Releases Safari Beta 2

Apple has released a new version of its much touted browser, Safari. Safari Public Beta 2, now available for download at the Apple site, adds new enhancements such as Tabs, Forms AutoFill and Privacy Reset.

The new tabbed interface allows you to switch between multiple web pages in a single window or open a folder of bookmarks with a single click. Forms AutoFill completes Web forms based on information from your Address Book or previous forms. Safari also gives you a separate option to automatically enter your accounts and passwords, stored securely in the Mac OS X Keychain. Safari’s Bookmarks Library, using a single-window interface like iTunes, lets you edit bookmark names and addresses in place as though you were renaming an icon on your desktop.

If you are concerned about the security of your passwords, other sensitive data or what sites you have visited Privacy Reset erases your surfing history, empties the cache, clears Downloads and Google search entries and also removes cookies, saved names, passwords or other AutoFill text.

Tech Tip: Fixing Corrupt Quark Documents

Have you ever had one of those days when nothing seems to go right? How about a Quark document that just won’t work. Maybe screen redraws are incorrect or the document just isn’t acting right. You may have a corrupt document. One method for rescuing your document is to perform a thumbnail copy.

  1. Change your document view mode to thumbnails (Shift + F6 or View…Thumbnails).
  2. Create a new document with the exact dimensions as the one you are trying to rescue (i.e. 8.5” x 11”).
  3. Set the new document’s view mode to thumbnail (Shift + F6 or View…Thumbnails) as well.
  4. Go to your original Quark file and shift-select all the pages.
  5. Drag and drop your selection onto the new document.

This should recreate your file and potentially fix what ails it. Good luck!
