Another happy MacMedics customer, who left us a 5-Star Google review. We firmly believe in giving our customers all of the options, even if MacMedics is not the lowest price or the best way to complete the service. The reason we suggested the customer check on the AppleCare+ angle was because he did not buy the AppleCare at the same time he purchased the MacBook Pro. He was within a few months of the AppleCare+ announcement. He could have upgraded to that if he had known about that option.

“I can’t recommend these guys enough! They’re very honest and will do everything in their power to solve your issue, even if it means sending your business to Apple instead of them fixing it. MY STORY: So, in January 2017, I bought my first MacBook Pro, the one with the Touchbar, 15-inch, I had just bought it from Apple directly. I should have shopped local and gave the purchase to MacMedics but that’s a different story. Anyway, this month (December 2017) I had it in my backpack and accidentally dropped it! Boom, cracked screen! NOOOOO!!!!! I paid a lot of money for this bad boy because I’m a techy and must have all the latest specs on my electronics; I paid over $3400 for it, ouch!

So, today, I stopped by MacMedics to get a price quote on fixing the screen. I was unlucky and bought my computer 5 months before Apple offered AppleCare+. So, I’d have to pay out of pocket for the repair because my computer didn’t qualify for AppleCare+ because of when I bought it. Only computers sold in June or later could get AppleCare+ (AppleCare+ protects against accidental damage). MACMEDICS TO THE RESCUE: MacMedics gave me a great and reasonable price quote to fix the screen. But wait… they didn’t just stop there, the one gentleman who works there told me that there is a possibility that the Apple Store may be a little bit cheaper. So, I was going to go to get a price quote for the Apple store BUT WAIT….ONE MORE THING, he said since I had barely missed the opportunity to sign up for AppleCare+ (at that time it wasn’t available to me) I might be able to call Apple Support to see if they can help me out…maybe they’d make an exception? Long story short, I spent about 85 minutes on the Phone talking to everyone at Apple (except Tim Cook). Apple decided to make an exception and waive the full cost of replacing the screen. So, thanks to MacMedics, I was able to save hundreds of dollars. I’d never have thought about calling Apple and would have eaten the cost of the repair. MacMedics will definitely go above and beyond to help anyone! I really appreciate their help and honesty! I’d recommend everyone to go there for all of your Apple Product Purchases and repairs. They’re an impeccable company and great people. Thank you, so much! – An Extremely happy customer.

A new 5-Star Review for an iPhone Data Recovery that we performed for just $99: “MacMedics is the best, Cody is amazing!!! My phone had water damage, and companies like ScreenSavers wanted $700+ to get my pictures off of it, which I could not afford. I was in tears, and then I drove past MacMedics. Cody recovered all my precious pictures and videos from my baby’s first year, priceless. Thank you to Cody, you have no idea how I thankful I am!!”

A note to anyone reading this: Not all data recoveries have a happy ending. We’ve seen the worst ones, like where photos of a loved one are lost forever. It’s SO easy to backup, so do that today! If you’re an iPhone user, the Apple iCloud backup service for iPhones is only .99 cents a month for 50GB or $2.99 for 250GB (which you can share with your whole family). I’m sure our happy customer would have paid that to protect her data. If you need help setting up a backup, just stop by any MacMedics office for free assistance. That goes for Macs too!

“I buy Apple products because of their design, features, and overall awesome service delivery. Having the opportunity to work with the MacMedics team feels like yet another extension of Apple’s awesome service model. Actually, these guys are better than Apple employees in almost every way.

I first went to MacMedics: Apple Authorized Premium Service Provider for: Macintosh, iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple TV, and Apple Watch about seven or eight years ago at the recommendation of an Apple advisor. While they were the quickest option available to fix my then dead MacBook screen, I didn’t trust doing this because they were not Apple employees. I can honestly say that using these guys was the best recommendation EVER! They are the fastest at what they do, and can usually turn your repair around in 24 – 48 hours; not even Apple can do that. And they have the best attitudes of any service people I’ve encountered. They’re just awesome to work with.

Most recently, I took my 2010 iMac in to have them upgrade the hard drive to a solid state from the traditional one. Not only did they turn the repair around the same day, but they also saved me lots of money. Simon was great in recommending that I could go to Amazon to find the parts for cheaper, and then bringing it all to them to install for just $150. Thanks, Simon. I later had the pleasure of working with both Chris and Sam. Sam was the best to work with even after I screwed up the work they had done with the new install of El Capitan. Because I couldn’t get the download to work from my account, Sam offered to do the install again at no cost. Sam and Chris even took the iMac back in a few more times to troubleshoot a RAM issue, again at no additional cost to me.

I honestly, enjoy taking my Apple devices to MacMedics because they care about the work they do, and also the customers they’re working with. They truly make tough electronic issues easier to deal with because they are honest people. I will never take a device to Apple again as long as the MacMedics team is around. THANKS, GUYS!”

MacMedics Macintosh Data Recovery Case Files: Army Ranger

You might recall on Veterans Day we put out an offer for a free data recovery for a veteran who needed some help recovering photos of their service, important life events, and all of their data. Nobody stepped forward.

I am happy to report that we found an Army Ranger who was in need of our services after he dropped his 13” MacBook Pro.

The metal on the edge of the right palm rest (where the hard drive lives) was dented out from the impact of the fall where the force pushed the hard drive so hard it pushed out on the metal in an imprint of one of the edges of the hard drive.

We never really thought that we would be helping to the degree that we did. We were not able to recover 100% of the data due to the damage, but we got most of it. The number of photos of gravesites, combat memorials, and fallen comrades this Ranger had been staggering. It was our honor to bring this data back to him at no cost.

In the process of recovering his data, we decided that we would also fix his broken MacBook Pro screen as well.

If you see a veteran, let them know that you support them, and if you have the ability to pay for their meal, toll, haircut, or help them out with a repair bill why not do it? He told me they are not looking for a free ride, but as Americans there is no way we can ever re-pay the debt to our service men and women. So, if you can do something to acknowledge their service and sacrifice, you should.

The only place I will ever go for any Mac products.

Brought in a MacBook Pro and had the hard drive replaced and all data transferred. Two weeks later the track pad went crazy. I was on vacation and emailed Dana and he answered back immediately. When I returned home, I took the computer back and after consulting with Chris, decided to purchase a new MacBook Air. I was refunded the cost of the newly replaced hard drive and given a fair trade-in discount for my old computer. Great guys to work with and I recommend them highly for the personal service they provide. The only place I will ever go for any Mac products.

I brought my wife’s 2011 MacBook Air into the MacMedics Baltimore office yesterday to see if they could help remove some cruft from her machine’s hard drive. Two thumbs up! When my MacBookPro began making ominous grinding noises during my travels I feared the worst, and set out to buy a new one – a cost I could ill-afford… Apple doesn’t repair laptops more than 5 yes old, so the store in Baltimore helpfully suggested that I consult with a good ‘repair shop’ before buying and gave me short list of reputable service providers to chose from. Two places in town could have helped but the turn around was more than a week – too late for my next flight. However, MacMedics assured me a 24 to 48 turn around, well worth the longish drive to Severna Park. Their service speaks for itself: – professional welcome and diagnostic on the spot, within a few minutes of my arrival I understood the problem (fan was shot); – Recommended replacement of fan, hard drive (to solid state for best performance). – They called the next morning (less than 24 hrs) for pick up; – They had done what they promised, ensured that nothing was lost from my old hard drive, completely updated the operating system, answered all my somewhat anxious questions and replaced – as a courtesy – rubber tabs under the laptop for which I knew Apple charged about $10 a pop. So, the laptop is working very well, the mechanics have been cleaned and renewed, the operating system has been updated, and I saved over $1,000. What’s not to like?

I can’t tell you how wonderful MacMedics has been!

I can’t tell you how wonderful MacMedics has been! I am a photographer who has used Apple products for years. I end up taking hundreds of GB worth of photos and am very hard on my computer when it comes to editing and storing all of them. My Mac was a few years old and I wanted to upgrade my RAM and hard drive space. After speaking to MacMedics they helped me find the best solution- I ended up installing extra RAM, getting a solid state hard drive for my operating system, and getting separate hard drives to help store all of my photos. They fixed everything efficiently and were really patient and thorough when answering all of my questions! When I later had some issues with my disk permissions, they were able to walk me through what I needed to do to fix these and the problem was solved. Many people have no idea where to turn for Apple services, sales, or data recovery, so they just end up going to the Apple Store and paying too much for it, not getting an accurate diagnosis, or going elsewhere and ending up with terrible service. But that is not the case with MacMedics- they are great on all accounts. They also give you a 1 year warranty- a big plus in my book. Highly recommended!

Mac Medics was able to understand my problem and fix my computer much faster than I expected! I spent a week of frustration on the phone with Apple and even went it to an Apple Store but no one was able to help me. I took the thing to both XXXXXXXXXXX in XXXXXXXXXX and two Apple stores before going to MacMedics. I wish I had just gone there first! “I had a hardware issue with my IMAC with regards to the hard drive. When I took my IMAC to the Apple store, the hardware issue migrated to the white screen of death. I purchased a new IMAC and asked if it was possible to transfer data from the old hard drive. Unfortunately, the Apple personnel could not due to the issue with the hard drive. I searched the internet and stumbled upon MacMedics. I called them up and spoke to Chris who said they would look into seeing if they could retrieve the hard drive data. The good news was that it might be possible. I left them my new IMAC and my old hard drive and in less than a week they were able to retrieve all my data from the old hard drive and restore it on the new IMAC. I also brought in my daughter’s MacBook Pro and they replaced the old hard drive with a new solid state hard drive. Her Mac is now running efficiently. Pricing is very reasonable. Service is superb. Why would one want to go to any place other than MacMedics. If you want, you can ship your Mac to them and they will ship the repaired product back to you. Might sound corny, but thanks to a hard drive problem I found a place that is honest, responsible and and will only fix what is needed. A special thanks to Ed who worked on my IMAC and my daughters MacBook.”

Customer for life!

I just returned from MacMedics on Benfield Blvd. My 2006 IMAC was not receiving e-mail and after trying unsuccessfully for days to solicit help from Verizon and Mac Support, I was at my wits end.

Long story short, I called at 10AM, made the 20 minute trek to MacMedics and was home with my beloved MAC in perfect working condition by 11:45AM. Sounds made up but it’s the truth.

The attendant (Chris) took over the repair process immediately and got right to the problem while explaining the mechanics of his repair. When I asked “how much?”, he said “it only took me 5 minutes so there is no charge”.
Needless to say, the customer service here is “off the charts”. These people are completely honest and extremely knowledgeable.

I have been considering upgrading to the new 27″ and when I do, I will be going to MacMedics rather than an Apple store.

Kudos to MacMedics! You have a customer for life!
