Apple Updates Final Cut Pro X

Apple released Final Cut Pro X v10.0.3, a significant update that introduces:

-Multicam editing that automatically syncs up to 64 angles of video and photos

-Advanced chroma keying for handling complex adjustments right in the app

-Enhanced XML interchange for developers to build apps and plug-ins as part of the Final Cut Pro X ecosystem

Final Cut Pro X v10.0.3 also includes a broadcast monitoring beta that supports both Thunderbolt devices and PCIe cards.

Apple TV Software Update 4.1.1 Released

Apple released Apple TV Software Update 4.1.1. This is an important update, and it should be installed on all Apple TV units.

Apple has updated Safari and Keynote to improve performance:

This update contains various improvements, including fixes that:

-Improve stability
-Address issues that could cause hangs and excessive memory usage
-Address issues that could cause webpages to flash white
-Allow PDFs to be displayed within web content

Keynote

This update addresses issues when working with large Keynote presentations on OS X Lion. It also includes improvements in stability and accessibility for Keynote.

Did you know that both Lion (10.7) and Snow Leopard (10.6) will protect you from known virus and malware threats?

There is a new threat that has surfaced that will try to fool you into installing the Flash Player. Read more about this from this blog. Apple has not yet included a built-in defense for this issue yet, so the best way to combat this threat is to download Flash directly from Adobe’s website, should you need it. Also, if any software you download from the Internet asks you for your password, you should be 100% certain you know what you downloaded, where you downloaded it from, and what it is.

Update 7/26/11: If you have already installed 10.6.8 and you’d like to fix the issues with it, then you need this version of the update.

If you’d like to upgrade from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 then you need this version of the update.

If you’re running 10.6.6 or any previous version of 10.6, you need this version of the update.

If you’ve already applied the v1.1 update of 10.6.8 (Delta or Combo), then you don’t need to apply the 10.6.8 Supplemental Update, as it’s built into v1.1 update.

About Mac OS X 10.6.8 Supplemental Update:

The Mac OS X 10.6.8 Supplemental Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and resolves issues with:

-Transferring personal data, settings, and compatible applications from a Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard to a new Mac running Mac OS X Lion.

-Certain network printers that pause print jobs immediately and fail to complete.

If you plan to upgrade to OS X Lion before July 25th, you will need to take a few simple steps to maintain your LoJack for Laptops protection until our update is fully distributed.

Step 1: Download and Install OS X Lion (10.7) from the Mac App Store

Step 6: When prompted, enter your registration code.

Your LoJack recovery info won’t be of much help to you when you need to report your MacBook or MacBook Pro stolen if you don’t have that info with you. Lojack suggests you print your license info and put it in a safe place. It is not likely that you will be able to find it quickly, or have that info with you while traveling or at work.

If you are still running Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and you DO NOT wish to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8, there is an Apple Security Update that you should run.

Because Apple expects you to just upgrade to 10.6.8, the new Security Update for 10.6.7 will not show up in Software Update.
