MacMedics Announces New Lower Prices For Same-Day iPhone 3G and 3G S Glass/Digitizer Service

iPhone 3G Glass/Digitizer Repair $89.95
iPhone 3G S Glass/Digitizer Repair $99.95

You can drop your iPhone 3G or 3G S off by 10:00 AM and we’ll most likely be able to have it ready for pick up by 4:00 PM. We also offer flat-rate $10 FedEx Express shipping if you’d like to have your iPhone shipped back to you.

iPhone repairs are super popular and tons of sellers of Do-It-Yourself iPhone parts, tools, supplies, and videos have come out of the woodwork.

There are three huge things to consider:

1. Is the part you are buying the correct part for your unit AND is it a “real” part? Many sellers from eBay and Craigslist are selling “High Copy” parts, which are usually far inferior in quality.

2. How much is the final price when you tally up the part, the tools, the adhesive kit, the shipping, and your time, how much does that really cost? Usually it’s pretty close to what you’d pay at a reputable service provider like MacMedics.

3. If you “do it yourself” you’re undertaking the risk of damaging or destroying your iPhone. The people that make the videos are usually the same people selling the iPhone service parts, and they make it look super easy in the video. Why? They want you to think it IS easy so you buy the part from them. Also don’t forget that internal parts of an iPhone are very delicate and sensitive to static. We know this and take every precaution in our Apple inspected Mac Lab.

We’ve blogged about iPhone repairs many times before. So you can read our past posts here.

MacMedics Case File: White MacBook With Spectacularly Broken LCD

MacMedics Case File: White MacBook With Spectacularly Broken LCD.

This white, plastic Macbook came into the MacMedics shop via one of our institutional Macintosh repair contracts. It looks like someone dropped something on the top of the unit to puncture the screen back (the part with the Apple logo on it) and broke the LCD hard enough that a convex lump is visible on the front of the LCD.

See this picture large size here.

See this picture large size here.

See this picture large size here.

No problem! We have the parts to fix it in-stock so we had it fixed same-day.

If your MacBook or MacBook Pro has a broken LCD, MacMedics can fix your laptop! The Apple Store charges as much as $1200 in some cases to fix this problem. We can usually fix most LCDs from $349 to $549. All commonly used LCD are in stock. WE stock over a dozen different types and sizes.

MacMedics has also become quite well know for our MacBook and MacBook Pro Uni-Body glass repair. We can fix this issue as well, and again for hundreds of dollars less the Apple Store.

If you are in the Baltimore or Washington DC area, just stop by our Millersville or Lanham office and we can get your Apple laptop repaired and back to you very quickly (most cases are handled in 24 hours). If that’s not fast enough, MacMedics does offer low-cost MacBook rental units to keep you up and running is you’re headed out of town or on a deadline.

MacMedics Same-Day iPhone Repair Service Helps U.S. Army Service Member A Day Before Deployment

We love helping Mac Medics clients get their iPhones and iPods back to them quickly. We repair dozens of iPhones and iPods every week, and in the majority of the cases, the unit is fixed within a few hours of being dropped off here in our Millersville, Maryland Mac Lab.

There’e no need to send your iPod away to the West Coast or anywhere else (we hope it’s not some fly-by-night basement repair place) for that matter when you have a local, reliable, and trustworthy iPod/iPhone/Macintosh repair center right here in Central Anne Arundel County right near Arundel Mills Mall and BWI Airport.

Don’t forget that Facebook “Fans” of MacMedics get $10 off iPhone and $25 off Macintosh repairs. Make yourself a “Fan” right here and find out what all the buzz is about!

Here’s a testimonial that a nice guy who was heading to Afghanistan sent us. Nothing better than getting an iPhone back in the hands of a member of the Armed Forces.

“Mr. Stibolt,

I don’t know if you will remember me or not, but I am the U.S. Military member whose iPhone your company fixed the day before I left for deployment. Having my iPhone fixed same day was very helpful! I just wanted to thank you and your company personally again. Having my iPhone with me here overseas allows me to communicate with my family back home without worrying about big phone bills. I will be sure to mention MacMedics to every Mac or iPod/iPhone owner I see! So, thanks again and I look forward to doing more business with you in the future.

Sincerely,
Damu M.”

Stop! Before You Make A Trip To The Annapolis Apple Store, See This Checklist First

without comments

Before you make an appointment, drive to the mall, find a parking spot, and then lug your Mac through the Annapolis Mall to get to the Apple Store, please consider supporting your local neighborhood Mac shop! Visit MacMedics in Millersville (near BWI airport) or Lanham, Maryland (near RT 50 & I-495) the next time you need Mac sales or service.

See our Blog post with all the details on why to come see MacMedics instead of trekking to the Apple Store. Clients that come to see us, often tell us they will never go back to the Apple Store for Macintosh sales OR service!

Or review this quick top 11 reasons here:

1. No appointment is needed: No need to call ahead when you’re ready to come visit MacMedics! Just walk in and our Apple Certified Techs will take great care of you.

2. No lines: We’re always busy, but there’s almost never a wait to speak to a MacMedic Tech.

3. Quick Check In: Tell us what your Mac’s issue or problem is, and we’ll get right on the case!

4. No lugging your iMac, Mac Pro, or G5 through the mall: Our front door is less then 10 steps from our parking lot.

5. Quick Turn-Around: Our goal for in-lab service it to have it done in less then 72 hours. Most repairs take less time, and if that’s the case then your Mac will be back to you even quicker! The majority of our Apple Warranty or AppleCare repairs are done in about 24 hours.

6. Hassle free warranty: Got a Mac that needs out of warranty service? The Apple Store only offers a 90-day service warranty. MacMedics “Hassle Free” warranty is a full 1-year!

7. Need a new Mac? We’ve got them: Come pick out what Mac you want, and we’ll be happy to help with no sales hype! Best of all you don’ have to wait your turn.

8. Full Repair Services for iPhone & iPods: The Apple store might do a whole unit replacement for an exorbitant flat-fee, or offer a small discount for buying a new unit (and trading in your old iPod), MacMedics will fix just the problem your iPhone or iPod has, thus saving you money.

9. Same day service for iPods & iPhones: In most cases if you drop off your iPod or iPhone in the morning, we’ll have it done later that same day!

10. MacMedics CAN fix the stuff the Apple Store can’t or won’t: If you’ve been quoted an exorbitant amount of money to have your Mac fixed at the Apple Store, MacMedics can help! Be it Liquid damage, a fried logic board, SuperDrive replacement, broken LCD or MacBook Pro glass, and severe Macintosh laptop case damage are all offered at MacMedics and often for hundreds of dollars less then Apple (or anywhere else!). ALL repairs are covered by our 1-year warranty.

11. The Apple Store Can’t Upgrade Your Hard Drive: MacMedics Can! See our new blog post from 1/30/10 to get all of the details. A common issue we help clients with here at MacMedics is “upgrading” or “retiring” a failed (or perfectly good) hard drive. What many people don’t know is that we can “upgrade” your computer to a larger size hard drive, even if your hard drive has failed under Apple warranty.

AppleCare And Apple Warranty Client Reviews For MacMedics

without comments

When MacMedics performs an Apple Warranty or AppleCare repair for one of our clients, Apple sends a follow up e-mail to ask how we did. These are the responses that came back this week:

#1 The service I received at MacMedics was very good and they always called me and left messages updating the status and progress of my computer.
—–
#2 I loved being able to walk in talk to a rep and have the work started right away. They have great customer service always keeping me up to date on their progress and explaining their work and my options every step of the way.
—–
#3 They were awesome. Nuff said. Dana runs a great show there.

These are anonymous comments, so if one of these is yours, thank you!

MacMedics iPod, iPhone 3G & 3G S Service And Repairs Are Performed Same Day!

without comments

Some of the other Internet based firms that offer iPhone service and repair are now making a big deal out of how they now accept walk-in repairs, and that they also same day iPhone service. MacMedics has always offered same day iPhone and iPod service. Drop your sick iPhone or iPod off in the morning, and we’ll have it done by the end of the day (in almost every case).

Even if you send us your iPhone or iPod, we normally have it fixed and back on the FedEx truck the same day it arrives. If you need us to send you a pre-paid FedEx label, just e-mail us your name, address, and phone number, and we’ll e-mail you back a PDF of a label. We just add $10 onto your repair for this service.

Do you have a 3G iPhone and you’re in an extreme hurry? Well, MacMedics does offer the iPhone 3G “Apple” broken glass or LCD repair solution. We can replace the entire top half of your iPhone 3G while-you-wait in about 5 minutes. Same price as Apple, $199. If you become a MacMedics “fan” on Facebook, and we’ll knock $10 of any iPhone or iPod repair!

I recently updated my Blog post warning against Do-It-Yourself iPhone repairs. I’ve copied-n-pasted a teaser below for your reading enjoyment. If you care to read the updated post, you can find it here!

We are seeing more and more iPhones that have been damaged during do-it-yourself repairs. Folks, the videos you see on-line make it look very easy. There’s a reason for that, the companies that make these step-by-step videos on iPhone and iPod disassembly and repair are the same people that are selling all of the parts, tools, and supplies you need to perform the repairs. They want it to look as easy as possible and they often edit the video in their favor making it look like it’s easier then it really is and that it takes less time then it will take you. I can guarantee you that guy/gal in the video is NOT performing the repair you are watching for the FIRST time.

This blog post is a bit of rant, so if you’re already on the same page as me, and you think paying $20 to $30 plus parts cost, and getting FREE return shipping via FedEx to have my guys fix your iPhone right the first time, and you want to avoid the risk of trying it yourself then, just use this form. If you need us to e-mail you a pre-paid FedEx Express label we can do that too, and we’ll just add $10 onto your total repair. Questions? Just call us 1-866-MAC-MEDICS or Email us. 99% of the iPhones that reach us are fixed the same day the arrive, and we pack them back up and ship them back for next day FedEx delivery. If you’re local to the Baltimore-Washington DC area, then just drop your iPhone off in the morning, and we’ll have it done by the end of the day!

If you need more convincing, then keep reading. I love to talk shop!

The Baltimore Sun publishes article on how MacMedics thrives in local Apple community and marketplace

with 2 comments

The Baltimore Sun published an article about MacMedics titled Local companies thrive with Apple on Thursday July 9th. BaltTech Blogger and Baltimore Sun Reporter Gus G. Sentementes wrote about how MacMedics has survived and prospered though both the highs and lows of Apple.

The article can be found here.

Thank you to all of our MacMedics clients and friends for making MacMedics possible and for supporting us since 1989.

I would also like to thank the Baltimore & Washington tech community (including a ton of folks from the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council and all the shout outs from attendees at their 5th annual BBQ held at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation HQ in Annapolis) for all of their support and various Internet and Twitter mentions. MacMedics is a member of the GCTC and we encourage other local tech firms to also consider membership.

MacMedics MacBook LCD replacement service for $349 (including return shipping via FedEx)

with one comment

Nobody likes to see a broken Macintosh laptop LCD, especially us. We love Macs, so we don’t like to see them hurt and broken after a bad drop or other unfortunate incident. Replacing the MacBook LCD can be an expensive repair when you seek help from Apple. When having your MacBook serviced by the Apple Store or Apple Depot service, they will require you to also fix any other case damage that may also be damaged due to the incident that broke the screen in the first place. Also, if your unit suffered some past minor liquid damage that did not end up causing any problems with the unit, but let a trace, Apple will also require you have that repaired as well. Another factor is that when working with Apple Service, you cannot “exchange” a physically “broken” or “cracked” LCD panel. If you choose to have the repair handled by Apple you will have to purchase the LCD service part outright, which means that there is no “credit” given for the “defective” part.

MacMedics offers a flat-rate discounted LCD replacement service for the Black and White MacBook screens for $349. We’ll replace your broken or non-working) MacBook LCD with an OEM part, and return it to you as quickly as possible. If your MacBook has case issues or other problems associated with the broken LCD we’ll work with you to find the best solution for fixing those issues as well. Best of all if our replacement LCD screen has a problem it’s covered by our MacMedics full one-year warranty. (Fine print: we won’t replace the LCD if it’s been broken a 2nd time, so let’s be careful out there!)

Lots of companies are now jumping on the Mac service band wagon. When you have a major Mac service service need like an LCD or logic board, please consider that MacMedics is the regional leader in the Baltimore-Washington area for Apple Macintosh sales and service. We pioneered on-site Macintosh service, and our in-lab service is also highly regarded and award winning. Macintosh computers are highly engineered and as such they often have very small parts, various sized screws, and very tight fittings cases. All three of these things frequently trip up firms that are NOT specialized in Mac service. (see our blog post about how a big box store fried a perfectly good working iBook) We frequently see computers after they have already been someplace else and NOT properly serviced. MacMedics is an Apple Authorized Service Provider and we’ve been fixing only Macs for over 20 years. So, before you ship your beloved laptop (or desktop) to places unknown, consider sending it to MacMedics. Also, all non-warranty Apple repairs are covered by our no hassle 1-year MacMedics warranty. If it fails, we fix it free.

Most MacBook LCD repairs are completed within 24-hours, which is impossible to accomplish if you send your MacBook to the West Coast for service. Also, be sure to read our Blog post about a MacBook that we worked on recently that had been to a mail-in depot repair center.

Ship your unit into us, or drop it off and for a limited time we’ll send it back to you via Fedex standard air shipping free of charge.

Add a 7200 RPM 500 GB hard drive to any MacBook or MacBook Pro LCD replacement service for just $159 which includes a bit by bit clone copy of your data. When you get your unit back, your data will be in just the same place you left it. Also, your old drive is yours, so we’ll return that as part of the service, or we can make it into a portable back up drive for $40.

MacMedics is now also offering Apple iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S service and repair in our Millersville, Maryland office. Got a cracked screen or LCD?? Don’t pay Apple $199 to get it fixed! Come see us and we’ll take care of your iPhone 3G for $89.95 or your iPhone 3G S for $99.95. Most repairs are completed SAME-DAY, and best of all, NO LINES here at MacMedics.
