A new 5-Star Review for MacMedics: The Apple Authorized service and sales from MacMedics have been a great resource for my business and home Mac networks. Between the office and home, I have at least two dozen Apple devices, several which I’ve taken to MacMedics for help, My experiences here, have been nothing less than first class! My Apple gear is serviced quickly the first time around, a rarity elsewhere, but not with MacMedics! When some items were not able to be repaired practically, I had them replaced at MacMedics. The owner is always on the premises and hands on. I have not been back to the Mall since MacMedics opened!! Thank you.

MacMedics 5-Star Review – “One chef will have to use this malfunctioning laptop as their ONLY HEAT SOURCE!”
We had to share this recent 5-Star MacMedics review that mentions Alton Brown and Sandy the Shop Cat the shop kat. Enjoy.
“My five-year-old, well-out-of-warranty (but dearly loved) 17” MacBook Pro committed suicide last Thursday evening. It had been behaving perfectly 99.9% of the five years I’ve owned it, then it went glitchy with video and virtually flamed out. It was HOT. Alton Brown could have used it as a heat source for a punishment on “Cutthroat Kitchen” (“One chef will have to use this malfunctioning laptop as their ONLY HEAT SOURCE…”). There was a sizzling-snap noise and it was dead. I have a lot of IT experience and have built and rebuilt countless Windows PCs and laptops. While I suspected the logic board (what everyone else calls a system board or motherboard), I wasn’t sure.
I don’t *want* a new laptop. So I logged in to make an appointment at the Apple Store for a repair quote. While I expected it to be traumatic, I didn’t expect the first trauma to be trying to simply get an appointment. The first available option was five days out! How could I survive in limbo for five days? Then I noticed that there are several Apple-annointed independent computer repair options in the area! SAVED!
Honestly, I chose MacMedics partly for the quickly-available appointment and partly because they have a store cat. The store cat is most excellent and fluffy, by the way. If you go there, give the kitty gentle head scritches but not back pets.
ANYHOW, the laptop died Thursday night and I took it to them Friday at lunchtime. It took about 2 minutes for them to inform me that the logic board had been fried by the failure of the video chip, that it’s an $800 part, and *that there is an extended warranty that covers the issue until the end of this calendar year!* They were able to bill the entire repair to Apple. So having my laptop attempt self-immolation is aggravating, but timing is everything.
MacMedics ordered the part immediately, and let me know that they couldn’t predict how long it would take to arrive. They did inform me of the updates I would receive by email. Off I went to be limited to an iPad over the weekend and possibly for longer. Well, on Monday (literally the next business day) I got a lunchtime email letting me know that the repair was complete. Top notch service!
As a side note, they inquired about my data backup solution without being pushy-selly about it (which is good, as I had that covered), and made a couple of security observations that were helpful and appropriate.
All-in-all, MacMedics is a good alternative to the Apple Store. Especially since the Apple Store is completely lacking in resident cats.”
Today, another computer repair shop came to visit MacMedics. They were trying to fix a MacBook Air and came to see us to try to buy an Apple hard drive service part.
We certainly respect other places trying to help their customers, but these folks are just not equipped to fix Apple gear without the Apple tools, training, and certifications that we have here at MacMedics.
The representative that visited us grabbed the Apple SSD hard drive (just a small memory card the size of a stick of gum) out of their bag, and said while handing it to me with their bare hands (without the necessary static bag protection), “I need one of these”. I promptly suggested that we go ahead and put it in a static bag for them.
They were convinced that was the issue with the computer was in fact a faulty SSD hard drive. I explained that SSD hard drives rarely go bad, and the best way for us to help them would be to have the whole MacBook Air. That way, we could perform a free test on the computer with the SSD hard drive installed back into the unit. They did not bring the MacBook Air with them for today’s visit.
If you have a Macintosh computer, or any other Apple gear like an iPad, iPod, iPhone, Apple Watch, or Apple TV, there’s really no reason not come visit MacMedics first. We’re the only Apple Authorized Premium Service Provider in the Baltimore-DC region. Our Apple diagnostic test of your gear is free and requires no appointment. Plus, all current Apple Macs are repaired with genuine Apple Service parts and ALL paid-for repairs come with the famous 1-Year MacMedics warranty.
Our new retail MacMedics store in Severna Park, Maryland is going great! Thank you for the amazing support and welcome!
If you have not been by to visit yet, we’re an Apple Authorized Reseller and an Apple Premium Service Provider. (The only such place in Anne Arundel County – We service EVERYTHING that Apple makes currently as well as all Apple Vintage & Obsolete products. We are Apple Authorized to sell everything but the iPhone & Watch.) We were recently voted “Best of Severna Park” for “Computer Service”.
We’ve just added more staff and expanded and streamlined our Apple Authorized iPhone service.
If your iPhone is under AppleCare+ and you have a screen break, we can help! We will provide you with a FREE Apple supplied loaner iPhone while your iPhone is being repaired or replaced at Apple Depot. You just pay your AppleCare+ deductible of $29. If your iPhone is liquid damaged or seriously damaged, we can just request a new iPhone from Apple, and they usually come the next day. With this service, there is no free loaner, but you do get a new iPhone the next business day. As always, MacMedics service is with NO appointments!
If your iPhone is out of warranty and you need an Apple Authorized repair, we’re here for you. $25 rental iPhones are available while yours is being repaired. If you also need us to backup your iPhone (without data recovery) and place your data on your repaired iPhone, that’s $25 as well.
MacMedics is also able to offer iPhone Data Recovery. Just stop by and let us have a look.
In almost all cases, the official Apple iPhone glass/LCD service like we offer at MacMedics is LESS than a non-authorized 3rd-party repair from a non-Apple shop or kiosk.
Also, if you have the Verizon or ATT service plans, their deductible is $199, so you will be better off having MacMedics repair your iPhone screen/LCD break for less than that, and in the end, you still have a 100% Apple iPhone with 100% real all-Apple parts.
Non-Apple iPhone parts are just that, not made by Apple and thus not as reliable or durable. Plus, 3rd-party shops DO NOT properly place the iPhone screen back into the iPhone body, as it’s done by hand without calibration.
If you ended up with a non-Apple repair and you re-broke your screen (3rd-party screens are more brittle) or your 3rd-party screen reapir is not seated properly or just not working correctly, you CAN have MacMedics replace it with a genuine Apple Authorized glass or LCD service for the same price anyone would normally pay with an Apple screen.

TIP: If you or someone in your family downloads #illegal movies, music, & software you are greatly increasing your risk of getting #malware or a #virus (if you have not already checked, we highly recommend you check to see if your kids are downloading stuff they should not be. You as the owner of the Internet in your house are the one that is ultimately responsible if you are hit with a copyright lawsuit (Yes! That’s a thing). Plus, your ISP may start to slow your speed as a penalty.)
When you download uTorrent (a popular Mac torrent client), you automatically have malware on your Mac as soon as you install it!
We just helped a customer yesterday in Severna Park who was into this sort of stuff, and his #Mac was totally full of Malware and other bad software. It was so bad, that we had to run our Anti-Malware software twice and even then, we had to go in and manually remove a bunch of other stuff. Good news: We got rid of all the bad stuff (they thought we’d have to erase the Mac to get rid of it), performed the service in about 30-minutes, and the bill was only $49.
“What a great find the MacMedics are!
What a great find the MacMedics are! We were having problems with a 2 year old MacBook Pro that would not boot up. We were told at the Genius Bar that the OS needed to be reloaded. (They didn’t tell us about saving the existing docs with Target Disk Mode, but luckily we found out about that online.) We reloaded the OS, but the problem re-emerged 2-weeks later. AppleCare ran diagnostics and said the SSD needed to be replaced, but Apple wouldn’t touch it since I had opened the case during the prior problems. I drove it to MacMedics in Severna Park without an appointment (exchanged emails with them first), and they put the machine on the workbench and started on it immediately. Gave me options, ran several tests, and opined that it was not the hard drive at all. I left an hour later with a clean SDD and new OS installation, and a bill for under $80. It’s been great ever since! In addition, they were super helpful to the other customers at the counter with me. I’m going back whenever I have issues with my Apple devices.”

Recent 5-Star Review:
“Life saver, absolutely amazing customer service and the price can’t be beat!! I found MacMedics online after being totally disappointment with my local Apple store that said my water damaged iPhone 5 could not be repaired; it wouldn’t charge. Instead, they sold me a brand new iPhone to the tune of $800+ after it was all said and done. I looked online and found that the charger could be repaired, so off I went to find a repair shop. Walked into MacMedics and Sam checked my phone and said he thought it could be repaired, had to order the part which would arrive the next day. Sure enough, he called me the next day and said the phone was repaired. Cost me less than $90. I will be returning my brand new iPhone to the Apple store tomorrow. So glad I didn’t take those guys at their word. If I ever have another issue with my iPhone or other Apple product, I will go directly to MacMedics and bypass the Apple stores all together. I highly recommend MacMedics and will be referring them to all my friends. Thank you Sam for fixing my iPhone and saving me hundreds of dollars. I wish all service techs had your skill.”
“I went to the genius bar for an emergency, of course because Christmas is right around the corner they were PACKED! I was looking online for my next closest Apple Store when I saw a link for MacMedics. I was nervous at first because, well I’ve been conditioned to only go to Apple, but I was put a ease to see that they work directly with Apple. So the next morning I went before work, the store was easy to find, and easy to access. I went in and was highly impressed with how beautiful and clean the store was, I was greeted by a very friendly staff, they immediately went in to action to solve my dilemma. The staff did everything within their means to help me and ultimately resolved my issue above my own expectations. I left the store with a huge smile on my face and my mind at ease, I have since told multiple friends, family members, and clients about Mac Medics and vowed this will now be my go to for my Apple devices.”
