We’re delighted to help anyone that has a Mac problem. But, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to have a tested, and automatic back up. In this situation our client lost data twice on two different computers. New or old hard drives can fail anytime. See this post for more info.

“MacMedics does it again!‎

By far, MacMedics is the best Apple Authorized Service Provider. I was first acquainted with the “Medics” at MacMedics when the hard drive on my black 13 inch MacBook crashed in early spring of 2009. Apple could not do much for me except recommend several data recovery companies, as I had lost over 10,000 digital photos that meant the world to me. Somehow I came across owner Dana Stibolt and MacMedics and they took it from there. They attempted to recover the data and then suggest several data recovery companies. Although the data and photos were not able to be recovered, Dana recommended redundancy in backing up data that is very important.

Unfortunately, the “hard drive ghosts” reappeared taking down my wife and son’s 20 inch iMac. They too had to learn as I did earlier in the year–back up your data. This time I knew exactly where to go. I talked to Dana about the problem and rushed the unit over the next day. Now here is the most salient point about this review. Although the hard drive was too far gone to recover any data, the standard data recovery rate of $99.00 that MacMedics charges was reduced to only $20.00 for the attempt. Dana maintained that the recovery effort was so short lived that it wouldn’t be right to charge me the standard recovery rate of $99.00. Now where do you find integrity like that in today’s society? As a result, I purchased Snow Leopard Family Pack from them . Dana and MacMedics will always have my business regardless of how large or small the need.

Thank you Dana and your folks at MacMedics.

These surveys are conducted anonymously, so we never know whom has made a particular comment. You don’t have to fill out the comment section, but our clients seem to have good things to say about MacMedics.

Here are three additional comments from last week’s Apple customer survey:

1. As always the people at Mac Medics were right on point and offered the best quality service. I have never been disappointed with any visit to them and would highly recommend them to anyone who needed service.

2. They went beyond just repairing the problem. They made recommendations and then provided solutions as to how I might prevent the possible consequences of the problem in the future. I am highly satisfied with every aspect of their service.

3. This MacMedics location is unbelievable….repaired in under 24 hours. Called me to come pickup and explained all repairs and warranty issues. They are definitely the hardest working group in your network. I can’t say enough abut their professionalism and attention to detail.

If any of these comments are yours, thank you for the positive feedback!

There are lots of computer techs working at lots of shops that DO fix PCs, but Macs are not PCs and just because you know how to fix a Dell, that does not automatically qualify you to fix any computer, especially a Mac.

You may recall our post about our client who had his computer destroyed at a “Big Box” retailer, when he wanted to get his iBook fixed faster then we could do it. He just sent us this testimonial detailing what happened.

“In October 2008, my hard drive died in my iBook G4. I went to Mac Medics after reading up on them and finding them to be the most reliable Mac repair shop in the area. I brought my iBook in to the shop for repairs but it was going to take longer than I wanted to wait because I was in a rush to get back to work. Against my better judgment, I opted to take my iBook to the country’s largest electronics and media retailer instead. To make a long story short, they destroyed my laptop and refused to accept responsibility for it. I went back to Mac Medics to get a diagnostic (which they did for free!) and was told it would make more sense to buy a new laptop than to fix the old one due to the damage that was done. So at their advice, I took the retailer to small claims court armed with an arsenal of evidence provided to me by Mac Medics to help substantiate my case. Several months later, the retailer decided to settle out court rather than face a losing court case. What makes this experience that started off as horrible one into one that I look back and be positive about is that Dana and his Mac Medics staff assisted me in my case when they had no legal obligations to do. To help me out when I was in a particularly bad spot without asking anything in return is something that speaks volumes about this company. I can say one thing, if more companies had one shred of the integrity that Mac Medics possesses, the Better Business Bureau would have to close shop. Thanks again Dana and Mac Medics crew, you will definitely be highly recommended!”

Ever since I started MacMedics in 1989, clients, friends, competitors, reporters, and many other folks have asked how MacMedics stays so busy. My answer has always been the same, “take care of the clients, make sure their Macs are always working, and they’ll take care of you”. It might sound corny, but it’s true.

On Friday, Goldstein & Associates, P.C., a client of ours in our Washington DC office sent an e-mail to our office in Lanham, MD, requesting my e-mail address. A short time later the following testimonial was waiting for me in my in-box:

Dear Mr. Stibolt:

We are a law firm and have been a client of your firm for the past year
and a half.

I am writing to express our great satisfaction with one of your
employees, Jason Bush. We have been working with Jason over the past
several weeks to replace all of the Macs – including the server and internet
configuration – in our office. We could not be more pleased.
From our first meeting with him, Jason has offered us confident,
expert advice regarding the technical needs of our network as well as the
needs of individual employees in the firm. He has shown a deep knowledge of
any possible technical and logistical issues we might have and has
consistently offered us practical, customized recommendations for all aspects
of technology in our office.

Furthermore, I truly believe Jason has gone above and beyond all
expectation since the installation of our new computers. He has stayed in
consistent contact with me and my staff and has been quick to respond to all
questions. Jason also took a great deal of initiative in determining the
inadequacies of our former internet provider as well as the unreasonable
prices it was charging our firm. He stayed in close contact to advise us as we
located a new provider and then took the time to oversee personally the
transition from one to the other. That transition, I might add, proceeded
quickly and flawlessly.

In short, we have been extremely glad to have Jason working with us,
and we are consistently impressed by the expertise and care he demonstrates
in addressing our needs. We look forward to continuing to work with Jason
and MacMedics in the future.

Thank you to Melvin Goldstein for taking time out from his busy schedule to write this unsolicited testimonial for MacMedics and Jason Bush.

We’re delighted that our clients are so pleased with our services.

“As the IT manager for a regional professional video production company, I need an Apple Authorized Reseller that can keep up with our heavy computer needs. When other firms faltered with our Macintosh needs and response time, I started looking for an alternative. It did not take long to find help at MacMedics and to start reaping the benefits of their resources almost immediately. When our server started having problems a few years ago, I reached out to MacMedics for help, and they immediately started helping me figure out the problem by offering suggestions over the phone. We ended up needing a service call and MacMedics quickly responded to our facility to look into the problem.

When I need something, or have a question, I call my representative at MacMedics, and usually have the info I need right away. When we required some large hard drives in a pinch, I called down to MacMedics and they had them custom built and delivered the same day! I’ve been impressed by MacMedics’ commitment to our Macintosh envioment and amount of follow though that they provide.

We need to upgrade our server to a new model and install a new Final Cut Pro intake server, I once again called on the team at MacMedics for help. They have already delivered my order personally, and they will be back to install it all when we’re ready for it.

MacMedics and Apple have helped us meet our IT needs and have helped Producers Video stay current with technology, thus allowing us to remain competitive in our field.”
