Google Review: The Employees At MacMedics Were So Helpful And Polite

without comments

Justin, a new MacMedics client who came to us from the Apple Store wrote the following about us on Google on 8/5/11.

The employees at Mac Medics were so helpful and polite. When me and my girlfriend went to the Apple Store they belittled her, talked down to her, and made her feel even worse about the problems she was already having with her MacBook. Mac Medics took the time to explain what the problems might be, how they may be resolved, and the different levels of pricing that may result from the work. I would recommend for any Mac owner to use the services that Mac Medics provides. I know that in the future if I have any problems or when I need to replace my old MacBook, I will be returning to Mac Medics.

AppleCare Customer Drives 60 Miles AND Past the Annapolis Apple Store To Get To MacMedics

without comments

Here’s a note that one of our clients posted on an on-line review site supporting us. Please see our MacMedics Blog post on why bringing your Mac, iPhone, iPod, or iPad to MacMedics is better than making a trip to the Apple Store in the mall.

“Yesterday I picked up my MacBook from the Millersville MacMedics location (near BWI). You’re gonna’ think MacMedics paid me to write this, but they didn’t.

Here goes: I drive 60 miles each way to take our MacBooks, our iMac, iPhone and iPods to MacMedics if something goes wrong. Mac owners will back me up when tell I you it’s once a year or less. Things like the case chipping, the power cord needing replacement. Once I couldn’t get the chime on start-up and wondered if something was wrong. Ended up being some motherboard and power control thing. And the time my hard drive crashed and burned. They had me from hello. I walked in with my problem, and they spoke Mac to me. Fluently. From then, and each time I go in, whether it’s for a hardware warranty repair, or even a “why’s it doing this?” question, they listen, they help, and they teach. I almost never leave without them passing along a cool website for my Mac. Computer geeks in the best sense of the phrase, really! I bypass (literally) the Apple Store at the Annapolis Mall to get to MacMedics. For me, they do the job right each and every time. Submitted with highest regard. VE”

Another 5 Star Review For MacMedics As Result Of Apple Warranty Service

without comments

As Apple quickly picks up more and more dedicated Apple users, the Apple Store and their retail service offerings are frequently overloaded. MacMedics is often able to complete Apple Limited Warranty and AppleCare repairs in as little as 24 hours. See our posting on this topic here.

In the meantime we continue to collect excellent reviews from the anonymous Apple Service surveys as well as from Google and Yelp.

Here’s our most recent review from our client, Evan:

“I Had the toplid of my MacBook Pro replaced under warranty. Was effortless, they diagnosed it properly and gave me the time of day. The whole staff was very friendly and accommodating and the store was near empty, which is a welcome change from the busy and annoying Apple Stores and their notorious “Genius” Bar service in the back. Highly recommended!‎”

MacMedics Case File: Another Successful And Full Data Recovery For Author Susan Henderson

without comments

We recently helped a new client from New York with a pretty tricky data recovery situation. She had visited the Apple Store to have her hard drive replaced. They were not able to do anything with her old hard drive. They ran some tests and told her her hard disk had “failed and lost all data”. She asked them if she was able to hang onto her old drive, which our Apple colleagues graciously static bagged for her. She then securely packed it and shipped it to us for data recovery.

On our first attempt, we were not able to grab any data, but we stuck with it and was able to recover all of her data.

Below is what she had to say about sending her hard drive to MacMedics:

ECSTATIC! FROM “ZERO DATA” TO FULL RECOVERY!

My computer started freezing regularly and soon after would not restart. I was shocked when I took it to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and they told me there was “zero data” on my hard drive. I’m a writer and I had not backed up my work for years. I lost a memoir, my next two novels, not to mention years of photos, iTunes, and on and on. I was devastated and sent my faulty hard drive off to MacMedics. They did a “Tier 1″ recovery and found all the files to be corrupted. I thought this was the end. Then they did a “Tier 2″ recovery, and a few days later sent a G-Drive Mini to me with EVERYTHING restored. I’m ecstatic! (And now I back-up compulsively with Mozy.) Thank you MacMedics!

Sincerely,
Susan Henderson,

You can read more about this including comments from her Blog readers and MacMedics at this link. You can read more about the MacMedics 5 rules of data protection and preservation at http://www.HardDrivesDie.com.

Also, don’t assume that when someone tells you your hard drive has “failed and lost all data”, that that is the gospel. Many folks don’t have the time, knowledge, or the energy to really know what’s up with your hard drive. At least 50% of the people that come into our shop with a “dead” hard drive don’t need clean room data recovery. If you send your drive away to “clean room” recovery for a free evaluation, and they can recover your data easily, you are still going to pay a pretty penny. Can you risk your data to our process, in almost all cases, yes. You can can do further damage by using the wrong process to try and recover the data, but if we suspect that your drive needs the clean room treatment, we’ll refer you to one of our partners. You data is worth a second opinion. If your data is worth $150, then it’s worth letting us have a crack at it.

Also, the data recovery firms pay a commission to the folks that refer business to them (including us). Many people would rather just have that commission, rather then trying to take the trouble of trying to recover your data. If your data is super critical, then you may want to go right to a clean room firm. If you’re not sure, please call us and ask us how we think your case should be handled. We do this every single day, so we do have a good deal of Macintosh Data Recovery experience we can share with you.

without comments

Lots of places that offer nationwide Macintosh service will try to you lure you to their website by saturating their webpage with geographic keywords that make it appear that they are “in” your area. This is kinda’ scammy and is often a turn-off anyways.

Unbelievably Awesome AppleCare And Apple Warranty Client Reviews For MacMedics

with one comment

As Apple Authorized Service Providers, we perform quite a number of Macintosh warranty repairs on behalf of Apple’s customers. We also do so for many of our own customers whom have purchased their Apple gear from MacMedics.

Over the last six months or so, our Apple service business has basically doubled. The Apple Stores in the area are so overwhelmed; many Apple owners are finding out that there is an alternative to making an appointment or waiting around in the mall for a face-to-face with a Genius at the Genius Bar. See our recently updated Blog post on why it makes sense to come visit MacMedics in either Lanham (1 mile from I-495 at RT 50) or Millersville (5 minutes from BWI Airport or 10 minutes form the Annapolis Mall)

When we perform an Apple Warranty or AppleCare repair for someone, Apple sends them a survey to ask how well we performed the service on Apple’s behalf.

Apple then forwards these remarks and the accompanying scores to us with the idea that they will help improve our service.

In the latest round feedback from Apple, these anonymous comments praise MacMedics in such a level of detail it almost looks like we wrote them ourselves.
