Dana Stibolt is the founder and President of MacMedics an Apple Authorized Service Provider and Macintosh consulting firm located near Baltimore International Airport (BWI) in Millersville, MD

Dana Stibolt

MacMedics Founder and President, Dana Stibolt had a simple problem with his Mac Plus. After repeated attempts to get basic questions answered, and several out-of-this-world repair estimates, Dana realized there was a severe void for honest and affordable Macintosh service in the area. As a result MacMedics was born in 1989.

Dana on-site in the snow for an emergency Baltimore area Macintosh service call

Before anyone else had even thought of performing on-site Macintosh repairs, Dana was on the road with his car full of Apple service parts, and equipment (Yes, even in the snow (see pictures) and on even sometimes on Thanksgiving and Christmas for emergency Macintosh support). As a guy who could actually "fix" Macs at the component level, he could often be found, soldering iron in hand, repairing a motherboard or power supply at a customer's home or office. He quickly earned a reputation of providing honest, fast, friendly, and affordable Macintosh service and support. As word spread, Dana soon had the need for his first employee, then his second, and then commercial office space. The momentum carried, and MacMedics quickly grew from a one-man "Mac Tech" to one of the largest Macintosh service and consulting providers in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Dana works out of all three of MacMedics' offices, but he also spends time on-site at customer's locations all over the region. He's been on some very interesting service calls. Dana's specialty is data recovery and dealing with very special Macintosh service situations. He's been called a "Macintosh Wizard" by author Tom Clancy, one of Dana's regular clients. Customers who have called on his unique Mac troubleshooting skills include an entry in the Volvo Ocean Race from Norway(see pictures below), researchers from the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, a captain of an international freighter (complete with a talking parrot) docked in Baltimore, the Baltimore Ravens, and even the White House in Washington, DC.

Dana has even traveled to Martha's Vineyard to take care of some Macintosh problem for one of his customers. When he's off duty, Dana can often be found at the farm taking care of his horses. He lives in Anne Arundel County with his wife and two children.

What Our Customers Say

"I am thrilled to offer a testimonial as to the quality of the work you did at my home. As you know, our new iMac G5 was taking painfully long to load web pages, despite us having broadband service. I had spent HOURS on the phone with AppleCare support personnel, and they could not solve the problem. This is our first Mac, and I was beginning to lose faith in this otherwise beautiful machine."

"You came in, diagnosed the problem as being with my router and NOT my iMac G5. Using your expertise and just plain old tenacity you solved the problem. Too often people we interact with in our daily lives do not demonstrate these two qualities, leaving jobs unfinished or poorly done, so your hard work was very much appreciated. As someone who holds his own work up to a very high standard I can see that you do the same. Thank you for all your help. Please do not hesitate to use me as a reference. If I decide to change platforms at work (or have any other Mac problems), you know I'll call you for advice."

"Thanks again."
