MacMedics Is No Longer Providing iPhone, iPad, & iPod Repairs

MacMedics is no longer performing “third party” iPhone, iPad, and iPod repairs. We never really intended to get into iPod, iPhone, and iPad repair business, as our focus has always been on Macintosh service and sales. However, several years after the iPod was introduced, our clients began asking us to replace batteries and perform other minor repairs. Over time, we started performing more complex repairs for our clients.

Apple has requested that we STOP performing these repairs for our clients. There is no “Apple Authorized” repair of iPhones, iPads, or iPods by anyone other than via Apple by way of the Apple Store or 1-800-APL-CARE. Since MacMedics is an Apple Authorized Service Provider and authorized to fix only Macintosh computers, fixing other Apple devices might confuse Apple customers that what we’re doing is actually sanctioned by Apple and thus Apple Authorized.

Apple has also made the same request of a number of other major Apple Authorized Resellers and Service Providers up and down the East Coast. A quick scan of several websites of fellow Apple focused companies that we are friendly with, turned up re-directs of pages that had formerly been dedicated to service information and pricing about iPhone, iPad, and iPod 3rd party repairs.

Apple does allow us and a few other firms we know of to facilitate iPad repairs, but that program is limited to us sending your iPad off to Apple for repair.

We’re told that Apple is working on a way for Apple Authorized Service Providers to offer some type of Apple sanctioned and authorized repair system for iPhones, iPads, and iPods in the future. When more information is available, we’ll be sure to let our loyal clients know about it.

In the meantime, we’re still accepting broken, damaged, or older iPhones, iPads, and iPods as trade-ins on new iPads, iPods, Macs, Macintosh repairs or data recoveries. We have our own in house program, where we’ll take two iPods (or other devices) with two separate serious problems and combine them into one working iPod, iPhone, or even iPad and donate them to a recovering armed services veteran or kidney dialysis patient.

If you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod that you would like repaired by an honest and reputable firm, we recomment that you get in touch with our friends at TechRestore.
